Indian benchmark indices are likely to witness a flat to mildly negative opening on September 4, tracking the GIFT Nifty, which was trading marginally lower at around 23,980.50 in early trade.
The domestic market, however, snapped its four-day losing streak in the previous session, with the Nifty ending just below the 23,900 mark. Buying interest was seen across metal, oil & gas and private banking stocks, supporting the broader market.
Investors are likely to remain watchful of global cues, domestic developments and sector-specific movements in today’s session.
On Friday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 76515.43 up by 362.57 points or by 0.48 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23897.7 up by 24.25 points or by 0.1 %.
On the global front, in the Asia-Pacific region, markets were trading higher, tracking similar moves on Wall Street last Friday and as technology shares advanced. Japan’s Nikkei 225 and South Korea’s Kospi were trading 2.23 per cent and 3.04 per cent higher, respectively.
Last Friday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 settled 0.51 per cent and 0.38 per cent down, respectively. The Nasdaq Composite ended 0.29 per cent lower.

Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 13720.29 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 1212.25 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 16540.95 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 1123.76 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. -2820.66 Crore and Rs. 88.49
