Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty ended on a flat note on Monday as a sharp surge in crude oil prices, triggered by escalating geopolitical tensions in West Asia, kept investor sentiment subdued.
However, strong buying in information technology and consumer durables stocks helped the benchmark indices recover from early losses, offsetting weakness in other sectors and enabling the markets to close largely unchanged.
