Indian benchmark indices are expected to open on a positive note today, supported by strong cues from GIFT Nifty, which was trading around 24,574.50 in early trade.
In the previous session, domestic equity markets extended their winning streak to a fourth consecutive day, driven by broad-based buying. Investor sentiment remained upbeat amid favourable monsoon developments, sustained foreign institutional investor (FII) inflows, easing geopolitical tensions, and a decline in crude oil prices, all of which continued to support the market's positive momentum.
On Monday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 78285.07 up by 521.16 points or by 0.67 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24430.35 up by 159.5 points or by 0.66 %.
On the global front, most Asian markets were trading lower, with South Korea’s Kospi leading the loss. The Kospi was down 5 per cent, while Japan’s Nikkei 255 fell 0.93 per cent.
Overnight, the Dow Jones Industrial settled 0.29 per cent higher at a record closing of 53,055.91. The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite settled 0.72 per cent and 1.12 per cent higher, respectively.
