Indian equity markets are expected to open on a cautious note on June 19, with the BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 likely to see a subdued start amid modest gains in GIFT Nifty, which was hovering near the 24,008 level in early trade.
In the previous session, domestic benchmark indices closed in positive territory despite a volatile trading day, with the Nifty ending close to the 24,200 mark. Market sentiment was supported by easing crude oil prices and favourable global market trends, while investors continued to evaluate the US Federal Reserve’s relatively hawkish policy outlook.
On Thursday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 77409.98 up by 254.36 points or by 0.33 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24168 up by 82.3 points or by 0.34 %.
On the global front, in the Asia-Pacific region, South Korea’s Kospi and Japan's Nikkei 225 were trading 2.7 and 0.58 per cent higher, respectively, after scaling fresh highs.
Overnight, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 settled 0.14 per cent and 1.08 per cent higher, respectively. The Nasdaq Composite ended 1.91 per cent higher.
