Indian equity benchmarks, the BSE Sensex and Nifty 50, are expected to open on a cautious note on April 17, despite mildly positive global cues. GIFT Nifty is hovering flat near the 24,160 mark, indicating a subdued start to the session.
In the previous session, domestic indices struggled to hold early gains and ended marginally lower amid volatility, with the Nifty closing below the 24,200 level.
On Thursday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 77988.68 down by -122.56 points or by -0.16 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24196.75 down by -34.55 points or by -0.14 %.
On the global front, Asia-Pacific markets declined on Friday morning, despite the overnight record rally on Wall Street, as investors await further clarity about a possible truce between the US and Iran.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 and South Korea’s Kospi were trading 0.83 per cent and 0.33 per cent down, respectively. The CSI 300 was 0.16 per cent down.

Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 20105.98 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 411.86 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 17007.01 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 717.11 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. 3098.97 Crore and Rs. -305.25
