Indian equity benchmarks, the Sensex and Nifty 50, are expected to open on a strong note on March 24, supported by positive cues from GIFT Nifty, which was trading around 22,838 earlier today.
However, in the previous session, markets witnessed renewed selling pressure after Friday’s sharp recovery. The Nifty slipped below the 22,500 mark intraday for the first time since April 9, 2025, amid broad-based weakness across sectors.
On Monday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 72696.39 down by -1836.57 points or by -2.46 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22512.65 down by -601.85 points or by -2.6 %.
On the global front, markets across the Asia-Pacific region advanced on Tuesday morning as energy prices dropped due to de-escalation in the US-Iran conflict. Japan’s Nikkei 225 and South Korea’s Kospi were trading over 1 per cent higher.
Overnight, US share indices also finished the Monday's session strong as hopes for a pause in the West Asia tension increased. The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 ended 1.38 per cent and 1.15 per cent higher, respectively. The Nasdaq Composite settled 1.4 per cent higher.
