Benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty declined nearly 1 per cent on Friday, extending their losing streak to a fifth consecutive session, as investors remained cautious over fears of possible US tariff hikes and persistent geopolitical tensions.
Continued foreign capital outflows from Indian markets further weighed on investor sentiment, traders added.
The 30-share benchmark index ended at 83576.24 down by -604.72 points or by -0.72 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25683.3 down by -193.55 points or by -0.75 %.
