Indian benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty, are expected to open on a muted note on October 31, as GIFT Nifty traded largely unchanged around 26,042.50. 
Easing US-China tensions, September quarter earnings, and mixed global cues are likely to influence market sentiment on the final trading day of the week.
On Thursday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 84404.46 down by -592.67 points or by -0.7 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25877.85 down by -176.05 points or by -0.68 %.
On the global front,  Asia-Pacific markets opened mostly higher on Friday as investors reacted positively to signs of easing tensions between Washington and Beijing. The move followed a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea on Thursday, where both leaders reportedly agreed to a limited trade truce. The deal helped defuse a dispute over rare earth exports that had threatened to escalate into a broader trade war between the world’s two largest economies.
Nikkei rose over 1 per cent, touching a fresh record high, while the Topix advanced 0.79 per cent, also hitting a new peak. Kospi slipped 0.19 per cent after reaching a record high in the previous session, while the Kosdaq gained 0.47 per cent. ASX 200 opened 0.45 per cent higher.
Overnight in the US, major indices ended lower as traders digested mixed earnings from Big Tech. The S&P 500 fell 0.99 per cent, the Nasdaq Composite declined 1.58 per cent, and the Dow Jones slipped 0.23 per cent.

Total numbers of contracts for index options were 57481142 with a total turnover of Rs. 11266111.94 Crore. and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 4905548 with a total turnover of Rs. 348194.16 Crore.
The FIIs on 30/10/2025 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 12594.60 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 46.89 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 13374.94 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 922.42 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. -780.34 Crore and Rs. -875.53.
