Indian Benchmark indices continued to trade in negative terrain lower by 382 points during the late afternoon deals. Among sectors, IT down 1.5 percent, while pharma, consumer durables, media, PSU bank up 0.4-1 percent. BSE Midcap index up 0.5 percent and smallcap indices up 0.3 percent.
On the corporate front, shares of Jaiprakash Power Ventures (JP Power) hit a multi-year high of ₹26.81, as they surged 13 per cent on the BSE. Vishal Mega Mart shares were in demand on Monday, as the stock jumped 5.1 per cent in trade on BSE amid large trades.
Meanwhile, Suprajit Engineering, auto component, and equipment maker, shares were in demand on Monday, as the stock advanced 2.9 per cent in trade on BSE.
At 14:33 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 82117.87 down by -382.6 points or by -0.46 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25051.65 down by -98.2 points or by -0.39 %.
The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 82537.87 and intraday low of 82010.38 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25151.1 and intraday low of 25001.95.
The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 270.00,+2.54%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3399.90,+1.22%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 867.75,+1.05%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1688.25,+0.94%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3094.85,+0.65%), among others.
The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 916.15,-1.84%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1565.55,-1.84%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3215.00,-1.54%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2402.55,-1.52%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1579.60,-1.46%), among others.
Among the sectors, Realty index was at 7580.88 up by 98.78 points or by 1.32%. Sobha Ltd. (Rs. 1540.75,+2.68%), Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 2252.00,+2.19%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 1728.80,+1.97%), Brigade Enterprises Ltd. (Rs. 1084.40,+1.93%), Anant Raj Ltd. (Rs. 571.95,+1.90%).
On the flip side, IT index was at 36587.56 down by -440.87 points or by -1.19%. AXISCADES Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1390.30,-3.25%), D-Link (India) Ltd. (Rs. 534.50,-2.33%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 253.15,-1.90%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1565.50,-1.84%), Vakrangee Ltd. (Rs. 9.81,-1.70%).
The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4489 , shares advanced were 2031 while 2263 shares declined and 195 were unchanged.
