Benchmark Indian equity indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty closed higher on Wednesday, overcoming intra-day volatility sparked by geopolitical tensions.
Markets reacted to the Ministry of Defence’s announcement that Indian armed forces had carried out precision strikes targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir early in the day. These strikes were in retaliation for the April 22, 2025, terror attack in Pahalgam, which resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians in Kashmir.
The 30-share benchmark index ended at 80746.78 up by 105.71 points or by 0.13 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24414.4 up by 34.8 points or by 0.14 %.
