The benchmark indices are now trading higher by 417 pts in the late morning deals on Wednesday. Indian markets on Wednesday hit the historic $4 trillion market cap milestone for the first time. Currently, there are only three countries in the $4-trillion-plus m-cap club--US, China and Japan.
Among individual shares, shares of Aster DM Healthcare surged 15 percent and hit a 52-week high of Rs 381.80 in opening trade on November 29 after the company approved the sale of its Middle East or GCC (Gulf Co-Operation Council) business to Alpha GCC Holdings Ltd for around $1.01 billion.
Meanwhile, Tata Consultancy Services is up 0.75%. The company on Tuesday that its Rs 17,000-crore share buyback programme will open on December 1 and close on December 7. Wipro is rising 2.3% and Tech Mahindra is gaining about 2%. HCL Technologies and Infosys are up 1.4% and 0.85%, respectively.
At 11:26 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 66591.88 up by 417.68 points or by 0.63 % and then NSE Nifty was at 20007.55 up by 117.85 points or by 0.59 %.
During the trade so-far, Sensex touched intraday high of 66597.96 and intraday low of 66374.52 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 20016.9 and intraday low of 19956.30.
Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 406.70,+2.46%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1602.05,+2.31%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1227.45,+2.01%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1336.40,+1.49%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1035.50,+1.48%), among others were the top gainers.
On the other side, the top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 257.00,-0.23%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3437.00,-0.15%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 24180.20,-0.12%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 435.00,-0.06%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1191.35,0.00%), among others.
