Gold prices surged Rs 527 to Rs 1,21,020 per 10 grams in domestic futures trade on Friday as speculators built fresh positions tracking a firm trend in global markets.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold for December delivery rose 0.44% to Rs 1,21,020 per 10 grams.
The yellow metal had retreated from record highs on Thursday, settling at Rs 1,20,493 after touching an all-time high of Rs 1,23,677 per 10 grams earlier in the session.
