L&T Semiconductor Technologies, the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) and IIT Gandhinagar on Monday announced a partnership to develop a fully indigenous secure chip designed to power future digital identities, beginning with electronic passports.
The collaboration aims to create a secure integrated circuit (IC) solution with all intellectual property (IP) retained in India—enhancing the country’s digital sovereignty and reducing dependence on imports, the partners said in a joint statement.
Under the agreement, the three entities will work together on research, development and commercialisation of secure IC solutions for critical applications, with the initial focus on e-passports.
