Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has secured a Rs 22.87-crore order (including GST) from Indian Railways’ South Western Railway zone for the design, development, supply, installation, trial, and commissioning of its indigenously developed Kavach train collision-avoidance system.
The Letter of Intent, received on September 11, 2025, covers the installation of on-board Kavach equipment in locomotives as well as trackside systems at stations, level crossings, intermediate block and automatic block signalling locations. The equipment will be manufactured at BHEL’s Bengaluru plant and the project is slated for completion within 18 months.
The order was awarded by a domestic entity, with no related-party transactions or promoter interests involved, the company clarified.
