The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has ordered an investigation into Asian Paints for allegedly abusing its dominant position in the decorative paints market.
The probe follows a complaint filed by Grasim Industries (Birla Paints Division), which accused Asian Paints of adopting exclusionary practices to hinder its entry and growth in the Indian decorative paints sector.
In its order, the CCI stated that there exists a prima facie case of violation under Sections 4(2)(a)(i), 4(2)(c), and 4(2)(d) of the Competition Act, warranting a detailed investigation into the matter.
